Toyota has officially announced to introduce the new Innova Hycross in India on November 25, 2022. Before our market, the new Innova (Zenix) will be introduced in Indonesia on November 21. Prices of the new Toyota Innova Hycross are likely to be revealed at the 2023 Auto Expo, and deliveries could commence by mid-January. Ahead of the launch, Toyota has released multiple teasers of the new model.
In fact, clearest exterior picture of the new Toyota Innova Hycross has also been leaked on the Internet. The company has confirmed that the new model will come with SUV-like styling. In fact, the new model with SUV-like styling will target multiple body styles including MPV and SUVs. It will be positioned as a crossover-MPV and will also target the 3-row SUV buyers. The new Innova Hycross could rival the likes of the Tata Safari, MG Hector, Mahindra XUV700 and the Hyundai Alcazar.
The 2023 Toyota Innova Hycross comes with more SUV-like design compared to the previous MPV-ish styling. It comes with an upright front fascia, featuring a large trapezoidal grille finished in contrast black with chrome surrounds. The front profile seems heavily inspired from the global Toyota Corolla Cross SUV. There is a unique line in the centre of the wide front bumper that merges with the triangular units on each corner. The triangular housings come with wide, horizontally positioned LED daytime running lamps. Also visible are faux aluminium bits on each corner of the bumper.
The new Hycross comes with wide, wraparound LED projector headlamps with chrome separators diving each unit. It comes with new set of daytime running lamps placed on the top with an ‘eyebrow’ shape. There are two prominent creases across that runs across the length and merges neatly with the wraparound tail-lamps. The new model shares styling cues from the Veloz MPV on sale in select South Asian markets. It has big glasshouse area that should offer airy feel for all 3-rows. The crossover-MPV comes with flared wheel arches and larger, upmarket alloy wheels.
The spy images suggest that the rear profile of the new Hycross will be inspired from the Avanza MPV on sale in South Asian markets. It will have horizontally-oriented tail-lamps with LED brake lights and a wide tailgate.
The interior teaser of the new Innova Zenix reveals many first features for the 3-row MPV. It will come with a large dual-pane panoramic sunroof, side roof-mounted air-con vents, ambient lighting, front-seat mounted rear monitors, power tailgate, captain seats with ottoman function, electronic parking brake and a 360 degree camera.
The new Toyota Innova Hycross will be designed & developed on TNGA-C global platform that underpins the Corolla Cross. It is a front-wheel-drive, monocoque platform, which will allow Toyota to create more space inside the cabin. Likely to measure around 4.7 meters in length, the new Hycross is expected to ride on a 2,850mm long wheelbase. The wheelbase is around 100mm longer than the current model, and it should translate into more space inside the cabin.
It is reported that Toyota Hycross will come with Toyota’s Safety Sense with features like Pre-Collision System, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Tracing Assist and Automatic High Beam. The new model will be powered by a 2.0L TNGA engine with a strong hybrid tech. Adding to it, the MPV will also receive a 2.0L NA petrol engine.
