Toyota Innova Hycross India Launch Details, Specs, Features

The all-new Toyota Innova Hycross has finally made its India debut at an event in Mumbai. The three-row MPV recently had its world premium in Indonesia as Toyota Innova Zenix. The Japanese automaker will announce its prices in January 2023. Though, we expect it to cost between Rs 22 lakh – Rs 28 lakh (ex-showroom). Here, it will be positioned against the SUVs like Mahindra XUV700 and Tata Safari.

The MPV model lineup will be made available in 5 variants and two seating configurations – 7 and 8-seats. The 7-seater version will have two captain seats with an ottoman function for the middle row and a bench seat for the third row. The MPV’s 8-seater model will offer bench seats for the second and third rows. All occupants will be provided with three-point seat belts, including the third row.

All variants will come with a 2.0L petrol engine boosted with the fifth-generation strong hybrid technology. Benefited with the Atkinson cycle, the motor pushes out a peak power of 152bhp and 187Nm of torque. There is an electric motor delivering a combined power output of 186bhp. While the higher variants will be made available with the strong hybrid powertrain, the entry-level petrol variants will come with the naturally aspirated, non-hybrid setup. The latter one will target the fleet market. Transmission duties will be done by a CVT automatic gearbox. One must note that there will be no diesel engine and manual gearbox. The all-new Innova Hycross mileage figure stands at 21.1kmpl. It offers a range of 1097km on a full fuel tank. The carmaker says that the new Toyota Innova can do 0 to 100kph in 9.5 seconds.

The new Innova Hycross underpins the monocoque platform with FWD drivetrain system replacing the conventional ladder-frame chassis and RWD setup. The MPV carries SUV-ish stance and measures 4755mm in length, 1850mm in width and 1795mm in height. It sits on a 2850mm on wheelbase, which is 100mm longer than the Innova Crysta. Inside, the new Toyota MPV offers a newly-designed, twin-layer dashboard. Its steering wheel, centre console and full digital instrument cluster look similar to the global-spec Toyota Voxy MPV. While the higher variants get a 10-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system, the lower variants come with a 9-inch info unit and an analog instrument cluster with a 4.2-inch multi-info display. The dual-tone interior with leather seats finished in Dark brown and all-black theme is reserved for the higher trims.

What add more to its premium feel and appeal are a panoramic sunroof, a 360 degree camera, ventilated front seats, 9-speaker JBL audio system, faux wood and alumnium finish on the interior, wireless charging, quilted leather seats, four USB C-ports, auto hold function, dual 10-inch screens for middle row passengers, electronic parking brake, drive modes, dedicated climate control for second row occupants, full LED headlamps and LED DRLs.

Major feature upgrade is the ADAS tech offering adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist. The safety kit also includes 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, three-point seatbelts for all passengers and four wheel disc brakes.
