Toyota Innova Crysta, Fortuner Hybrid Models In the Work

Toyota Motor Corporation is planning to expand its Indian product portfolio with a couple of its global SUVs including RAV4, C-HR and the Hilux pickup truck. While there is no official word on their India arrival, the RAV4 and the pickup truck are reported to hit roads sometime this year and C-HR might come next year. All these models will be brought via government’s new import rules that allow a carmaker import 2,500 units annually without any homologation process.

Besides this, the Japanese carmaker will introduce the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz sedan and Ertiga MPV based models in coming months. The former is likely to come as a replacement to the Yaris that was recently discontinued in our market. Toyota’s highly popular Fortuner will also enter into its new generation sometime next year. We have reported that the 2022 Toyota Fortuner will witness significant feature upgrades including ADAS (advanced driver assistance system), electric power steering and electronically controlled vehicle stability control technology.

2022 Toyota Fortuner Launch

One of the major update will come in the form of the new diesel hybrid engine that will be more efficient and eco-friendly. According to a fresh media report, the Toyota Innova Crysta MPV will also receive the brand’s hybrid powertrain in near future. The globally existing 2.4L 2GD-FTV diesel and 2.8L, 1GD-FTV diesel motors will be benefited with the hybrid technology.

The 2022 Toyota Fortuner is likely to be the first model to receive hybrid powertrain. In India, the SUV is currently available with the 201bhp, 2.8L turbo diesel and 164bhp, 2.7L petrol engine options. The Innova Crysta, on the other hand, is available with the 2.7L petrol (164bh/245Nm) and 2.4L turbo diesel (148bhp/360Nm) engines. The new hybrid powertrains will surely be more powerful and efficient than the existing ones.

More details of the new-generation Toyota Fortuner and Innova hybrid models are likely to be revealed in near future. Stay tuned to IndiaCarNews.
