Toyota Kirloskar Motor which is all set to unveil the New Innova MPV on 23rd November, is also working on its sporty version – the Innova Cross – that will be introduced as a replacement for the existing model lineup in the country. It will be lighter and more agile than the outgoing model, thanks to its new chassis.
This new model is likely to borrow some of its design cues from the Etios Cross. The vehicle will receive minor exterior updates and plastic cladding all around the body. In order to price it competitively, Toyota might alter the equipment list of the vehicle.
Powering the Innova Cross will be the same 100.57bhp, 2.5-litre 2KD-FTV diesel engine that does duty to the current model. Though, it might be tweaked for extra power and better fuel efficiency. To be positioned below the New Innova, the Toyota Innova Cross will rival the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Honda Mobilio and Renault Lodgy.
Toyota Innova Cross India Launch Date
The Innova’s Cross version is expected to launch in the country in late 2016 or early 2017. Though, there are no official words about the launch and details of the product.

Since the Innova Cross will be positioned below the new Innova, it might be priced between Rs. 7 lakh – Rs. 12 lakh (ex-showroom).

Exterior and Interior
The latest spyshots suggest that the Innova Cross will feature plastic lower-body cladding all around, as seen on the Etios Cross. The vehicle will also receive minor updates on grille, front and rear bumpers and lamps. Though, it will retain the original design and dimensions. The vehicle will borrow several features from the existing model such as headlight clusters, new chromed grille, prominent bonnet, fog lamps, integrated reflectors with chrome strip, tail lights and roof mounted spoiler.
The MPV’s Cross model will be assembled with the 15-inch alloy wheels that will be wrapped with 205/65 R15 tubeless tyres. In terms of dimensions, the vehicle will measure 4,585mm in length, 1,765mm in width and 1,760mm in height. With a wheelbase of 2,750mm, the Innova Cross will offer a decent cabin space. Inside the cabin, the vehicle will share resemblance with the regular Innova MPV. It will come with features like wooden finish steering wheel, a touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth connectivity, leather seats, dual airbags, anti-lock braking system (ABS), etc.
Engine & Transmission
The Innova’s Cross version will be powered by the 2.5-litre 2KD-FTV diesel engine that is paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. It’s the same engine that powers the outgoing model. It puts out a maximum power of 100.57bhp at 3,600rpm and 200Nm of torque at 1,400rpm – 3,400rpm. The RWD (rear-wheel drive) drivetrain system will come as standard feature.
