Toyota Fortuner’s New-Gen Model Revealed in Clear Images

After multiple spy images, both camouflaged and uncamouflaged, clear pictures of the all new Toyota Fortuner have now hit the interweb. The new-generation model of the Fortuner will make its debut on July 17, 2015 in Thailand, though we might be able to see it India only at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo. The vehicle has gone through heavy design and has received a new diesel engine line-up.

The new-gen Toyota Fortuner will be based on Toyota’s new Innovative International Multi-Purpse Vehicle (IMV) platform, which is the same that also underpins the new-generation Innova and Hilux Pick-up truck. That said, the vehicle will continue to be feature the ladder frame chassis.

As seen on the images, the new-generation Toyota Fortuner gets an all new front fascia with Camry-like wrap-around head-lamps, chromed V-shaped twin-slat grille, new front bumper and fog lamps. Daytime running LEDs further enhance the overall appeal of the car. Though the side profile might still remind you of the existing model, it looks more rugged and sportier with bigger wheel arches and new outside rear view mirrors (ORVMs) with integrated turn indicators.

Coming to the rear profile, the most noticeable change is the set of new wrap-around tail-lamps and new bumper. The chrome stripe and other elements still look similar to the current generation model of the car. The cabin too will offer plusher seats and more space to its occupants. There might be some new features as well.

As mentioned earlier, the 2016 Toyota Fortuner will get Toyota’s new GD series of diesel engines – 2.4-litre turbocharged and 2.8-litre turbocharged. While the former is capable of churning out 148bhp, the latter is good for 175bhp. The same engines will also power the India-bound model.

Upon its launch, the Toyota Fortuner 2016 will rival upcoming Chevrolet Trailblazer, new-generation Ford Endeavour and others in the league.
