Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo Launching Soon – Showcased To Dealers

We informed you earlier that Toyota is planning to launch the Vellfire premium MPV in India. Interestingly, the Japanese brand is also planning to add new sportier variant to the Fortuner line-up. A new media report reveals that the top-spec Toyota Fortuner TRD SPORTIVO was recently showcased to dealerships. In fact, the new model is expected to be launched in our market in September 2019.

The new TRD Sportivo is basically the sportier looking variant of the Fortuner, which is developed by Toyota Racing Development or TRD. The India-spec Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo will be slightly different from the one currently on sale in Thailand. While the Thailand-spec model gets silver finish in the grille, the TRD Sportivo for India will have chrome treatment. Adding to it, the front bumper and foglamp enclosures are also differently styled.

The TRD badge in bright red colour can be seen embosed in the front as well as rear. The vehicle is available in dual-tone white and black paint; while body and black roof. Inside the cabin, the Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo gets dual-tone black and red treatment. TRD logo is embossed on the door sills. The international-spec Fortuner TRD Sportivo comes equipped with features like JBL sourced 11 speaker audio system, TRD suspension with red springs, bigger discs and 20-inch blackened alloy wheels, new leather seats in red and black shade with contrasting stitching, and carbon trim for the gear knob and steering wheel.

The Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo is expected to be powered by a 2.8-litre diesel engine that is capable of producing 174bhp of power and 450Nm of torque. Both rear-wheel and 4-wheel-drive versions are on offer. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic. The SUV is likely to be offered in automatic as well 4WD version.
