The Toyota Corolla Cross will be offered in 4 variants in the Thai market in the next couple of months.
We reported earlier that Toyota is readying an all-new global SUV, which will be called the Corolla Cross. The SUV has already been spotted testing in Thailand. A new media report claims that the Toyota Corolla Cross will debut in the Asian country in the next two months. It will be offered with 4 versions including hybrid.
In terms of proportions, the Toyota Corolla Cross will be 4,460mm in length, 1,825mm in width and 1,615mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,700mm. The new model will be directly positioned against the Jeep Compass SUV, which is 4,416mm Long, 1,819mm wide, 1,615mm tall and has 2,636mm of wheelbase. The Corolla Cross is slightly larger in terms of length and in the wheelbase, which should help Toyota to liberate more space inside the cabin.
The new Corolla Cross is designed and developed on the TNGA-C platform. The SUV will also have electrified engines. The Thailand-spec model will be powered by a 1.8L Hybrid powertrain, which offers a combined power output of 122bhp. This is the same powertrain that offers the Corolla Hybrid sedan in Brazil. The entry-level variant will get the 1.8L petrol engine producing 142bhp. A CVT automatic gearbox will be offered as standard. The top-spec model could receive a 177bhp, 2.0L turbo-petrol engine.
The Toyota Corolla Cross will be equipped with features like 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, reverse camera, automatic AC and leather finish as standard. 17-inch alloys will come as standard. The hybrid version will have LED headlamps with projector. The Hybrid premium variant will be equipped with high-end features like electrically adjustable driver’s seat, blind spot sensor, 18-inch alloys, cross traffic alert and electric and gesture opening of trunk. The top-spec Corolla Cross Hybrid Premium Safety variant will be equipped with Toyota’s Safety Sense Package. This model will have features like adaptive cruise control, automatic high-beam headlamps, lane assist and pre-collision system. This variant will also offer electric sunroof and 360 degree surround view camera.
