Toyota CH-R Compact crossover

We reported earlier that Toyota is working on a compact crossover/SUV to rival against the likes of Honda Vezel and Maruti Suzuki S-Cross SX4. Now, the company has teased the Auris based crossover which is scheduled to debut at the 2014 Paris Motor Show in October. Christened as Toyota CH-R, the compact crossover will be positioned below the RAV4 SUV and would rival the Suzuki S-Cross and Honda Vezel. The CH-R compact crossover is expected to go on sale in 2017.

The CH-R compact crossover teaser shows a sharper and sleeker Toyota design. The aggressive and sharper front and a coupe-like rear profile give it a modern look. According to the company, “The C-HR concept combines a powerful new design language with an engaging driving experience and a hybrid powertrain.”

It is expected that the Toyota CH-R crossover concept would be based on the Toyota New Generation Architecture (TNGA), which will also spawn future Toyota’s. The vehicle is expected to be offered in petrol, diesel and hybrid fuel options. It is likely to be offered in front wheel drive layout, while an all-wheel drive option would be offered with the top-end models. The company will reveal more details on the Toyota CH-R crossover concept on the 2nd of October at Paris Motor Show.

With the growing demand for compact SUVs and crossovers, the Japanese car manufacturer might launch the new crossover in the Indian car market.
