Toyota C-HR SUV Could Be Launched in India This Year

We informed you earlier that Toyota is working on an all-new premium Crossover MPV for the Indian market. Previous media reports claim that the Japanese automaker is exploring the Highlander, RAV 4, C-HR, Harrier and Lexus RX SUVs for the Indian market. Toyota is aiming to leverage on the new law of importing 2,500 vehicles a year without the need of homologation.

It is expected that the C-HR Crossover could be imported in India under the new law of importing. The SUV has been spotted multiple times on Indian roads, and recent sightings of heavily camouflaged model further suggest that the C-HR could be launched in India. The SUV will directly rival the Jeep Compass and the upcoming Volkswagen T-ROC.

2020 Toyota C-HR GR Sport Design

The Toyota C-HR B-SUV is designed and developed for mature markets, but the company is now considering this SUV for the fast growing Indian markets. It is based on the TNGA platform, which also underpins the Prius and Corolla. The SUV comes with a bold design langauge and futuristic styling and looks different from other crossovers. At the front, it features a sharp LED headlamp design and air intakes, aggressive bumper with a wide central air dam, small LED fog lamps and muscular lines on the bonnet.

It is expected that the hybrid version of the Toyota C-HR crossover will be launched in our market. The SUV is packed with a 1.8-litre petrol and electric motor delivering a combined power output of 122bhp. In terms of proportions, the C-HR measures 4,360mm in length and has a wheelbase of 2,640mm. The crossover offers a boot space of 370-litres, which is 70-litre more than the Toyota Innova Crysta.
