Toyota C-HR Is Launching In India Or Not, Find Out Here

Japanese automaker, Toyota is planning to introduce some of its global SUVs in India. The new models will be introduced under the government’s rule of allowing importing 2,500 vehicles without homologation process. It was speculated that the company could bring the RAV4 Hybrid and C-HR crossover under the new rule. In fact, the C-HR crossover has been caught testing multiple times on the Indian roads.

There is a possibility that Toyota could launch the C-HR crossover, as it has been spotted numerous times on Indian roads. The crossover will be pitted against the Volkswagen T-ROC, Skoda Karoq and others in its category.

For people not in the know, the Toyota C-HR is based on the TNGA (Toyota New Generation Architecture) that also underpins the Prius and Corolla. It is designed and developed for mature markets; however, Toyota is now considering this SUV for the fast growing Indian market. The C-HR comes with unique and bold design language. It comes with futuristic styling and looks different from other crossovers.

At the front, it features a sharp LED headlamp design and air intakes, aggressive bumper with a wide central air dam, small LED fog lamps and muscular lines on the bonnet. At the back, it gets a tapering glasshouse and an aero-inspired floating light clusters. In terms of proportions, the C-HR measures 4,360mm in length and has a wheelbase of 2,640mm. The crossover offers a boot space of 370-litres, which is 70-litre more than the Toyota Innova Crysta.

In the global markets, the Toyota C-HR is available with a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine that produces 144bhp and 188Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via an e-CVT unit. The India-spec model is likely to come with a hybrid engine, which comprises of a 1.8-litre petrol engine paired to an electric motor delivering a combined power output of 122bhp.
