Japanese automaker, Toyota has recently joined hands with Suzuki to develop new cars, technologies and electric batteries in India. The company will also launch a sub-4 meter SUV, which will be based on Maruti Suzuki’s popular Vitara Brezza. What’s more interesting is that Toyota is also considering its global products for Indian market. One such model is the Toyota C-HR crossover, which has recently been spotted testing in India for the first time. Toyota is not likely to introduce the existing model anytime sooner. Though, the second generation model, which is due in 2020-21, might come to India. Here are 5 things you should know about this globally popular crossover –

TNGA Platform

The C-HR crossover is based on the modular TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture), which was first introduced in the current generation Toyota Prius. The same platform will also underpin the next-generation Corolla sedan, which will go on sale in India by 2020. It is expected that Toyota could partially develop this platform in India to achieve good pricing for its future products.

India Launch?

It is quite early to comment whether Toyota will bring this crossover in India or not. This crossover is based on TNGA platform, which is quite expensive for the price-sensitive Indian market. It is expected that the second generation C-HR could arrive in India, which is due to make global debut in 2020.
