The all-new Toyota bZ4X compact SUV concept has finally made its India debut at the ongoing 2023 Auto Expo. The electric concept has been designed under Toyota bZ (Beyond Zero) sub-brand that already includes bZ4X crossover and bZ3 sedan. Both models are already on sale in the Chinese market. The concept carries ultra-sharp edges and body lines along with the sweeping roof and a high beltline.
Upfront, it features LED headlamps connected via an illuminated strip, C-shaped LED DRLs and a sharply designed bumper with pixelated pattern at the lower section. The electric concept has a sharply raked roofline, a pronounced kink in the rear window and short overhangs. It comes with the flush door handles, a prominent diffuser and wraparound taillamps.
Sporting a minimalist interior design, the Toyota bZ4X compact SUV features a large, curved touchscreen, a dashboard integrated curved digital instrument cluster and a yoke steering wheel. The seats of the concept are said to be made from plant-based and recycled materials. Called ‘Yui’, the model has a virtual assistance with voice commands and audio and visual light cues.
Official powertrain details of the new Toyota bZ4X concept are yet to be revealed. Though, it’s reported to be offered in four- and front-wheel drive powertrain options. The FWD version will come with the 71.4kWh battery pack.
The Japanese automaker has already revealed its plan to launch five models under the bZ sub-brand with “around 30” BEVs (battery electric vehicles) in the next 2-3 years. The company said that the vehicles in the Beyond Zero moniker will come “with an aerodynamic design coupled with intuitive tech features”. The bZ concept “showcases another possible vision of the very near future with our battery electric vehicles”.
