In April 2018, TKM registered a total sales of 1,3037 units, and HCI managed to sell 9,143 units.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor has become the fifth largest passenger vehicle maker in the country by dethroning Honda Cars India in April, 2018. TKM registered a total sales of 1,3037 units last month, accounting a growth of 5.64 per cent. The Innova Crysta MPV, Fortuner SUV and Etios Liva were the major volume generator for the Japanese carmaker.

HCI managed to sell 9,143 units (domestic sales figures), thereby registering a sales drop by 36 percent in the same month. While the Honda City was the top-seller with 3,366 units, the Honda WR-V’s sales figure stood at 2,949 units. And surprising fact is Honda sold zero units of the Amaze compact sedan. This is because buyers are waiting for the sedan’s new-generation that will go on sale on May 16, 2018.

Commenting on the sales performance, N. Raja, Deputy Managing Director, Toyota Kirloskar Motor said, “This month was quite eventful for us with the bookings opening for the most awaited product Toyota Yaris. Yaris is loaded with first in segment features and offers great value proposition in terms of best in segment quality, comfort safety and performance. Read – Upcoming Toyota Cars In India

The Japanese carmaker recently launched the Yaris mid-size sedan against Honda City, Maruti Ciaz and Hyundai Verna. The carline is available in four trims – J, G, V and VX – with both manual and CVT automatic gearbox. Prices of the Yaris fall in the range of Rs 8.75 lakh – Rs 14.07 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Deliveries of the sedan will begin in coming days.
