October 1, 2016 – Tork Motorcycles, the Pune-based startup, has announced the price of India’s first indigenously designed and developed electric motorcycle – Tork T6X – on 30th September at an event in Bengaluru. Priced at Rs 1.25 lakh, the T6X eletric bike has received over 1,000 pre-bookings within 24 hours of its unveiling. Since the bike is still under homologation process, its deliveries will be commenced by next year only. The Tork T6X electric bike is the fifth prototype of the company.
Besides the T6X, the bikemaker also plans to introduce multiple electric motorcycles from stylish urban commuters to race-winning machines. The bikes in the lineup are Tork TX0 01, TX0 02, TX0 03, TX0 04 and TX0 05.
India’s first electric motorcycle startup, Tork is founded by by Kapil Shelke, and funded by Ankit Bhati and Bhavesh Agarwa. The company has setup a production plant with an installed capacity of 50,000 inits/year at Chakan near Pune. The bikemaker aims to sell 10,000 units in the first year of its Indian operations. Initially, the company plans to launch at least 100 charging stations in Delhi, Pune and Bengaluru. In the second phase, it will arrive in Hyderabad and Mumbai.

Power for the T6X electric bike comes from a small capacity DC 6kW (8bhp) electric motor with a pack of lithium batteries. On a single charge, this motorcycle can run up to 100 kms and offer a top speed of 100kmph. The torque figure stands at 27Nm. The company says the Tork T6X electric motorcycle can be compared to any 125cc bikes in the country.

Painted in black and white shades, the T6X carries bold stance and aggressive styling. The bike comes fitted with daytime running light, and has decent storage space. Other features on offer are a fully digital touch TFT, anti-theft , mobile charging, mobile app support, Geo fencing, quick charge and onboard navigation and GPS. The bike also gets an advanced battery management system, anti-lock braking system (ABS) and CBS.
