Maruti Suzuki Baleno recorded its highest ever monthly sales in July 2017.
July 2017 has been a profitable month for the Indo-Japanese carmaker in India. With India’s six top selling products, Maruti Suzuki registered a strong growth of 20.6% (post GST) against the same period of the last fiscal year. In the domestic market, the company sold a total of 154,001 units and exported 11,345 units. The gross sales of the carmaker stood at 165,346 units in the previous month.
While the major sales contributor was the Alto hatchback with 26,009 units, the Baleno was the second top selling product from Maruti’s portfolio. The premium hatchback recorded its highest monthly sales of 19,153 units accounting a growth of 110% over the same period last year. Ever since its launch in October 2015, it’s the highest sales figure the company has registered for the Baleno.
What comes as a surprise is that the Maruti Baleno outsold the highly popular Vitata Brezza, WagonR and the Swift twins (Swift hatchback & Dzire sedan). It is also the top selling NEXA product. The company has sold over 2 lakh units of the Baleno so far. The high-demand of the vehicle has translated into a waiting period of around four months (on select variants).
Coming to the list of the top 10 selling cars of July 2017, the Wagon R and Vitara Brezza secured the third and fourth spots respectively. With a total sales of 14,703 and 13,738 units, the recently-launched new Dzire and the Swift hatchback stood on the fifth and sixth positions respectively. The Hyundai Grand i10 was the seventh top selling car of the month, followed by the Hyundai i20.
The ninth spot in the list was grabbed by the Maruti Celerio that recorded a total sales of 11,087 units. And the last but not the least, the Hyundai Creta registered 10,556 units sales accounting 32.2% year-on-year growth.
