Next-gen Mahindra Scorpio

Mahindra & Mahindra, the homegrown UV maker has recently released the BSVI compliant Scorpio SUV, which receives some changes in terms of features and mechanics. The company is also readying the next-gen Scorpio, which has been spotted testing multiple times on the Indian roads. It is confirmed that the next-gen Mahindra Scorpio will be launched in the Indian market in the first half of 2021.

New Petrol & Diesel Engines

The upcoming new Scorpio will be powered by the new 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine, which will also power the new Thar and the upcoming XUV500. While powering the Scorpio, this new engine is likely to produce around 160bhp of power and close to 400Nm of torque.

The SUV will also receive a new 2.0-litre mStallion turbocharged petrol engine, which will also power the next-gen XUV500. This engine is capable of producing 190bhp of power and 380Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.

Likely to receive Head-Up Display

Similar to the Kia Seltos, the next-gen Mahindra Scorpio is likely to receive a Head-Up Display (HUD) unit mounted on dashboard in front of the driver’s seat. It could also come with an all-digital instrument cluster with the layout similar to the existing model.

Bigger in Dimensions

The spy images confirm that the next-gen Mahindra Scorpio will grow in size. It will be significantly longer and wider than the outgoing model, which should help Mahindra engineers to release more space inside the cabin. It will also receive front-facing seats for the third row.

New Interior Design

The next-gen Mahindra Scorpio will receive all-new interior, featuring new dashboard and a larger touchscreen infotainment system supporting Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. There will be a drive mode selector for controlling throttle and steering response. Features such as centre console, steering wheel with mounted controls and control dials seem carried over from the current model.

Platform – ZEN3

The next-gen Scorpio will be based on the modified version of the existing ZEN3 platform, which also underpins the new Thar. The company will also improve its body control and make it more rigid for the crash test.
