The festive season is just a few months away. It’s time, when automobile market witnesses important launches of the year from different car manufacturers and customers head to showrooms to bring that much-awaited cars home. Here, we pick out the top 9 cars that will be launched during festive season 2019.

1. Maruti Suzuki S-Presso

The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso is essentially the production version of the Future S mini SUV concept that broke cover at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. We have already seen the camouflaged prototype of the mini SUV multiple times revealing minor design details. The spy pictures confirm that the production-ready S-Presso will retain most of its design bits and components from the concept. It will feature boxy and upright stance with a honeycomb grille, high-mounted headlamps, front bumper with black cladding, dual-tone ORVMs, thick C-pillar and a high ground clearance. It might get a touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity. Powering the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso could be a 1.0L, 3-cylinder petrol engine with manual and AMT gearbox options.

2. Tata Altroz

Tata Altroz is surely one of the much-awaited launches of this year. The premium hatchback was first previewed in its concept avatar at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo, followed by unveiling of its close to production version at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. The Altroz is likely to come with three powertrains – a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol, a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol and a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel. All variants will get a manual gearbox as standard. The carmaker might offer an automatic transmission at a later stage. The Altroz will be Tata’s first car to be built on Alfa modular platform and the second product to be designed on Impact 2.0 Design language. The hatchback is likely to get the app-based and Google-powered voice activated functions along with several comfort and safety features.

3. Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza Facelift

Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, India’s top-selling subcompact SUV, is ready to receive its first update during festive season 2019. The facelifted version might see subtle cosmetic upgrades along with a few new features. Rumour has it that the SUV might get a sunroof and side airbags. Other changes could include LED projector headlamps, revised tail lamps, new grille, re-designed bumpers, new SmartPlay Studio infotainment system, new upholstery, etc. The 2019 Vitara Brezza is likely to come with new and more powerful petrol and diesel engines. The carmaker might use a new 1.2L Dualjet with SHVS mild hybrid technology or a 105bhp, 1.5L K15B SHVS motor for the petrol Brezza. The diesel model could use a new 1.5L DDiS motor, sourced from the Ciaz sedan. There will be two transmissions on offer – a 6-speed manual and an AMT.

4. Honda HR-V

In order to cash in the festive season 2019, Honda Cars India might bring in the HR-V SUV in the Indian market. Here, it will be stacked up against the Tata Harrier, Jeep Compass and the newly-launched MG Hector. The SUV will come with both petrol and diesel powertrains. While the petrol version might come with a 1.8L i-VTEC engine generating 139bhp, the diesel model is likely to come with a 1.6L i-DTEC motor producing 118bhp. Transmissions on offer will include a 6-speed manual (diesel) and a CVT (petrol). Visually, the Honda HR-V appears quite sporty. In terms of features, the SUV might get a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, a panoramic sunroof, a multi functional steering wheel, leather seat upholstery, paddle shifters and cruise control.

Expected Price – Rs 15 lakh – Rs 20 lakh

5. Mahindra KUV100 Electric

The electric version of the Mahindra KUV100 mini SUV that was showcased at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo, is now ready to hit roads. The car might see a release during festive season 2019. With respect to design and styling, the KUV100 Electric is exactly similar to the regular model. Though, it gets EV badging along with a slightly tweaked front grille. Power for the electric mini SUV will come from a 30kW electric motor with a Lithium ion battery pack. It’s claimed to deliver an electric range of over 140km. One can charge its battery up to 80% in less than an hour via fast charger. With an automatic gearbox, the electric motor delivers power worth 40.79PS.

Expected Price – Around Rs 8 lakh

6. Renault Kwid Facelift

The French carmaker is ready to launch its all-new Triber subcompact 7-seater MPV in late August that will be followed by the Kwid facelift. The carmaker updated the hatchback lineup with a new safety kit and updated infotainment system early this year. Now, the company will give a mid-life update to the vehicle with minor cosmetic changes and a range of new comfort and safety fitments. The 2020 Renault Kwid facelift is likely to derive some its design elements from the China-spec Kwid EV. It might get a newly-designed grille with horizontal slats and new headlamps with LED DRLs. The hatchback might also see minor dimensional changes. Engine setup will remain unchanged – i.e. 800cc, 3-cylinder and a 1.0L, 3-cylinder. The carmaker might update both powertains to make them comply to upcoming emission norms.

7. Tata Tiago Facelift

Tata Motors will give a mid-life update to its highly popular Tiago hatchback during 2019 festive season. Reports suggest that the 2019 Tata Tiago will be made available with BS6-ready 1.2L, 3-cylinder Revotron petrol engine with a 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox. The 1.05L Revotorq diesel motor could be phased out by the carmaker. The facelifted version will sit on the same platform, but feature the new-generation Impact 2.0 Design philosophy. The hatchback will receive minor design changes inspired by the upcoming Altroz premium hatchback. It might get revised bumpers, a more prominent grille, newly-designed alloy wheels, new dashboard, interior trim and seat upholstery. The 2019 Tata Tiago facelift might also come with a touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity. It will meet the new safety norms by offering mandatory features.

8. Hyundai Elantra Facelift

Hyundai Elantra facelift is one of the upcoming launches during 2019 festive season. The saloon’s updated version is likely to get subtle exterior changes such as new LED headlamps instead of projector beams, chrome finish on window line, silver wheels, repositioned licence plate and triangular LED tail lamps integrated into the boot lid. In India, the 2019 Elantra facelift might get Hyundai’s latest connected car BlueLink technology along with several new features. Under the hood, the saloon is likely to feature the same 2.0L petrol and 1.6L diesel engines with a 6-speed manual gearbox. The global-spec of the luxury saloon might get the DGS automatic transmission.

9. New Range Rover Evoque

Land Rover had revealed the second-generation Range Rover Evoque at the 2017 LA Motor Show. Unlike the existing one, the next-gen model sits on a new platform that’s compatible to electric powertrain. However, there is no clarity wheatear the India-spec version will get the mild hybrid technology or not. In India, the SUV is likely to use JLR’s Ingenium engines – a 240bhp, 2.0L turbo petrol and a 180bhp, 2.0L diesel. It will also continue to come with the ZF-sourced 9-speed automatic gearbox and AWD (all-wheel-drive) system. The SUV’s all-new model will retain the original design and stance. Though, its front fascia could be heavily inspired by the Range Rover Velar. Inside, the SUV might get new dual touchscreen layout along with a pack of new features.

Expected Price – Rs 52.50 lakh – Rs 70 lakh
