Top 6 Mahindra SUVs To Launch In 2022-23 – Thar 5-Door To XUV400

Mahindra had launched the new Thar and the XUV700 in 2020 and 2021 respectively. Both SUVs have received an overwhelming response from buyers with waiting period of over 1 year. In order to further improve sales, Mahindra plans to introduce a wide range of new models along with updated versions of existing SUVs.

Moreover, Mahindra will showcase 3 new Born Electric SUVs – a compact EV, a mid-sized SUV EV (size similar to XUV700) and a new coupe SUV (to preview XUV900) on August 15, 2022. These models will also preview the brand’s design direction for the future electric SUVs.

Here is a list of top 6 new Mahindra SUVs to be launched in the Indian market in 2022 and 2023 –

It will come with two engine options – a 2.0-litre turbo petrol and a 2.2L mHawk diesel. The turbo petrol engine will produce 170PS, while the diesel engine will offer two states of tunes – 130PS and 160PS. Mahindra will launch the upgraded XUV300 in the country before the end of this financial year, most probably in January 2023. The 2022 Mahindra XUV300 facelift will come with improved styling and upmarket interior. Some of its design elements could be inspired by the XUV700. The SUV will also come with a more powerful variant, called the Mahindra XUV300 Sportz. In fact, the XUV300 Sportz recently received ICAT (International Centre for Automotive Technology) certification.

The new Mahindra XUV300 facelift will come with a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder direct-injection turbo petrol engine that produces 131bhp and 230Nm of torque. The SUV will also come with existing engine options – 110bhp, 1.2L turbo petrol and 1.5L diesel units. The 1.2L petrol engine will also be boosted with the mild hybrid start-stop system that will reduce its emission levels and help meet the CAFE standards.

Mahindra XUV300 Electric

Mahindra has officially announced that it will launch a new electric SUV based on the XUV300 platform in the first quarter of 2023, most probably in January. It is rumoured to be called the new Mahindra XUV400 EV. The new model will look different from the original XUV300 sub-4 meter SUV. It will measure about 4.2 meters in length, as the sub-4 meter rule for subsidy benefits are not applicable to electric vehicles.

The Mahindra XUV400 electric SUV will be the brand’s first production model to be based on Mahindra Electric Scalable and Modular Architecture (MESMA). It is likely to come with 350V and 380V powertrains and two battery pack options. The smaller capacity battery is likely to offer a range around 300-350km and will rival the Nexon EV. The SUV will use the 2.0l turbo petrol and 2.2L turbo diesel engines that power the outgoing model. However, the powertrains will be calibrated for extra power and torque. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.
