The New Year is just a few weeks away. The very first month of 2020 has 5 important car launches in its kitty. The new models in the line range from a mass-segment hatchback to luxury MPV. There will also be two electric SUVs that will cater different set of buyers. Here, we have listed the top 5 new car launches of January 2020.  

1. Hyundai Aura

Hyundai Motor India recently unveiled its all-new Aura compact sedan that’s slated to go on sale in January, 2020. Though, its official launch date is yet to be announced. The carmaker claims that the Hyundai Aura will offer 12 segment-first features including an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Arkamys premium sound system, wireless charging and more. The Aura will come with 3 BS6-compliant engine options –a 1.2L NA petrol, 1.2L diesel and 1.0L turbo petrol.

2. Tata Altroz

Tata Altroz premium hatchback made its India debut on 3rd December and its official bookings were commenced a day after. The hatch will be made available with three BS6-compliant engines and a 5-speed manual gearbox. There will be two petrol motors – a 1.2L, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated and a 1.2L, 3-cylinder turbocharged. The diesel variants will be offered with a 1.5L, 4-cylinder motor that’s good for 90PS and 200Nm.

3. Tata Nexon EV

Tata Motors is ready to bring in its first electric SUV in the Indian market. Called the Tata Nexon EV, the electric SUV will also mark debut of the company’s all-new Ziptron electric powertrain technology. The power system includes a 30.2kWh lithium-ion battery pack transmitting power to a 129bhp, electric motor. The SUV’s battery pack can be charged either with the standard AC charger or DC fast charger.

4. MG ZS EV

MG ZS EV will be the second product from the British carmaker in the Indian market. Official bookings of the electric SUV have already begun across the nation and its launch will happen in January, 2020. Powering the vehicle will be a 44.5kWh battery pack paired to a 143bhp electric motor. It’s claimed to accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in 8 seconds. One can charge its battery up to 80% in 40 minutes with a 50kW DC charger. It takes 7 hours to get fully charged via a standard 7.4kW charger.

5. Kia Carnival

After the successful launch of the Seltos, Kia Motors India is ready to bring in its second product – the Kia Carnival. The luxury MPV will be made available with three seating options – 6-seats, 7-seats and 8-seats. At the heart of the Kia Carnival will be a BS6-compliant 2.2L diesel engine that’s good for 202PS and 440Nm. Transmissions on offer will be a 6-speed manual and an 8-speed automatic unit. With Toyota Innova Crysta (higher trims) in its sight, the Kia Carnival is estimated to be priced around Rs 27 lakh – Rs 36 lak (on-road).
