2018 is near to its end, and it has been a great year for two wheeler buyers. In the past year, there was a range of exciting new bikes that launched in our market. Here we bring you a list of top 5 motorcycles launched in 2018 –

Yamaha R15 V3.0

 

Japanese automaker, Yamaha had launched the new iteration of the popular R15 fully-faired motorcycle at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. It is one of the most exciting motorcycles currently on sale for budget buyers of the country. The new model is more powerful than the previous model. It is powered by an all-new 155cc, single cylinder petrol engine that produces 19bhp of power and 15Nm of torque. This engine is paired to a six-speed gearbox and slipper clutch.

Jawa & Jawa Forty Two

Classic Legends, Mahindra’s subsidiary had re-launched the iconic Jawa nameplate in the Indian market. The company introduced 2 new motorcycles – Jawa Classic and Jawa Forty Two. Both the motorcycles received an excellent response from buyers. In fact, bookings for the motorcycles have been halted as the motorcycles are sold out till September 2019. The Jawa motorcycles are powered by a 293cc, four-stroke, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that’s compliant to BSVI emission norms. This engine is capable of producing 27bhp of power and 28Nm of torque. While the Jawa Classic is available in three paint schemes – Black, Marron and Grey, the Jawa 42 comes in six shades – Comet Red, Nebula Blue, Galactic Green, Starlight Blue Lumos and Halley’ Teal.

Royal Enfield 650cc twins

Royal Enfield had launched the two new 650cc motorcycles – Continental GT and Interceptor INT – in the country in late 2019. The new motorcycles are the most powerful and the fastest RE’s currently on sale in India. The new motorcycles are powered by a new fuel-injected 650cc engine that produces 47bhp of power at 7,100rpm and 52Nm of torque at 4,000rpm. Feeding power to wheels is a 6-speed gearbox. The new 650cc engine delivers right balance between power, torque and usability.

BMW G310R & BMW G310GS

In July 2018, BMW Motorrad had launched its smallest and most affordable motorcycles – G310 R and G310 GS in the Indian market. TVS and BMW together develop these two new motorcycles. While G310 R is a naked streetfighter, the G 310 GS is the adventure bike. The new bikes are powered by a 313cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that also powers the TVS Apache RR 310. This engine churns out a maximum power output of 34bhp at 9,500rpm and a peak torque of 28Nm at 7,500rpm. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 6-speed gearbox.

TVS Apache RTR 160 4V

The homegrown automaker had launched the new-gen Apache RTR 160 4V in the country in early 2018. The motorcycle witnessed several design changes, though the original styling remains intact. It comes with major improvements in the form of engine performance. The motorcycle features the most powerful engine in its category. It is powered by an all-new 159.7cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine with an oil cooler, and is capable of producing 16.8bhp of power and 14.8Nm of torque.
