1. Maruti Alto CNG

This CNG version is available in 2 variants – LXi (O) and LXi – priced at Rs 4.21 lakh and Rs 4.37 lakh respectively. It is powered by a 796cc, 3-cylinder petrol + CNG powertrain, which produces 40bhp at 6,000rpm and a peak torque of 60Nm at 3,500rpm. It is claimed to offer an impressive fuel economy of 31.59 km/kg.

2. Maruti Wagon R CNG

It is one of the best-selling CNG cars in India. The new model is bigger and more fuel efficient than the previous model. Based on the HEARTECT platform, the new Wagon R CNG version is available in the LXI trim only and in 2 variants – LXi and LXi Optional- priced at Rs Rs 5.25 lakh and Rs 5.32 lakh respectively. Driver side airbag, power windows, reverse parking sensor, speed alert system and others are offered as standard.

The Wagon R CNG is equipped with a 998cc, 3-cylinder petrol + CNG powertrain, which is capable of producing 58bhp at 5,500rpm and 78Nm at 3,500rpm. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox. It is claimed to return an average fuel economy of 33.54 km/kg.

The Celerio hatchback is one of the high-selling CNG cars in our market. It features the same 1.0L 3-cylinder petrol + CNG powertrain that powers the Wagon R, producing 58bhp and 78Nm. It is claimed to deliver a fuel economy of 31.76 km/kg. The Celerio CNG is available in 2 variants – VXi and VXi (O) – priced at Rs 5.40 lakh and Rs 5.48 lakh.

4. Hyundai Santro CNG

Hyundai’s entry-level and most affordable car – the new Santro is one of the cheapest CNG equipped cars currently on sale in India. Unlike Maruti that offers CNG with lower and mid-level variants, Hyundai is giving CNG fuel with the high-end variants of the Santro. The hatchback is powered by a 1.1L 3-cylinder petrol + CNG powertrain, which offers 58bhp and 84Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox. It is claimed to deliver a fuel economy of 30.5km/kg. The hatchback also offers impressive features like a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, power windows, bluetooth connectivity, etc.

Hyundai’s new popular Grand i10 Nios model is also available with CNG fuel option. It is powered by a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol + CNG powertrain, which offers 68bhp of power and 95Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox. It is available in 2 variants – Magna and Sportz – priced at Rs 6.64 lakh and Rs 7.18 lakh respectively.

The Magna variant gets features like chromed front grille, LED DRLs, follow-me-home-headlamps, multi-functional steering wheel, keyless entry, rear AC vents, power windows and driver seat height adjust.
