Top 4 Upcoming SUVs Under 10 Lakhs In India

The rising demand for SUVs have promoted automakers to change their product strategy for the Indian market. Instead of hatchbacks, car manufacturers are now planning to launch new compact SUVs and crossovers in our market. In this article, we bring you a list of top 4 new sub-4 meter SUVs to be launched under Rs 10 lakh in the Indian market.

Citroen C21

Citroen C3 Scale Model Leaked

French automaker, Citroen will enter into the sub-4 meter SUV segment with the all-new C3 Sporty. Codenamed C21, the new compact SUV will be introduced in the second half of 2021. The new model will be based on the Groupe PSA’s CMP (Common Modular Platform) that also underpins the Puegeot 208.

The Citroen C21 will be positioned against the likes of the Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Renault Kiger and the Nissan Magnite. It will be equipped with a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine with manual and automatic gearbox options. The C21 could also receive India’s first 1.2-litre flex-fuel engine.

Tata Motors will introduce the production version of the HBX concept in the second half of 2021, before Diwali. The new model will be based on the ALFA modular platform that also underpins the Altroz hatchback. Tata confirms that the production version of the HBX will remain true to its concept. The concept measures 3,840mm in length, 1822mm in width and 1635mm in height with a wheelbase of 2450mm.

It will be positioned against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Ignis and the Mahindra KUV100 NXT. The entry-level SUV will receive the 1.2-litre 3-cylinder naturally-aspirated engine that also powers the Tiago and the Altroz. This engine produces 86bhp and 113Nm of torque. It could also receive the 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine with power close to 100bhp. Transmission choices are likely to include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT.

New Maruti Brezza

Maruti Suzuki has started working on the second generation Vitara Brezza, which is rumoured to be presented in the second half of 2021. The SUV could be introduced in the end of 2021 or early 2022. It will be based on the advanced version of the Suzuki’s HEARTECT platform, which will allow Maruti engineers to add modern connectivity features.

The new Brezza will get the advanced infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, wireless charging, factory-fitted sunroof, connected car tech, cruise control and others. The SUV will also receive a stronger hybrid system with the existing 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine. It is expected to feature a larger battery and a more powerful electric motor to achieve higher fuel efficiency. The SUV will be positioned against the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet and the Tata Nexon.

Korean automaker, Hyundai will enter into the micro SUV segment with an all-new model, codenamed AX1. The small SUV will first go on sale in Korea in the second half of 2021, while India launch is expected in early 2022. It will rival the Maruti Suzuki Ignis and the soon-to-be-launched Tata HBX. The company has already released the teaser image, which reveals the headlamp and taillamp design.

The spy images reveal that the small SUV design will be inspired by the Venue compact SUV. The new Hyundai mini SUV will carry the brand’s signature SUV design language along with the upright and boxy body built. The new Hyundai mini SUV is likely to be offered with the 1.2L, 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine that does duty in the Grand i10 Nios. The motor pushes out a peak power of 83bhp and 114Nm of torque. The lower variants of the micro SUV might get a 1.1L, 3-cylinder petrol unit sourced from the Santro.
