Due to global COVID-19 crisis and the lockdown, the Indian automobile industry witnessed a significant downturn in March 2020. Even the major car manufacturers observed a steep decline in sales chart. Though, there are some cars that managed to record decent numbers. Here’re the top 10 best selling cars of the last month.

Key Findings

The Maruti Suzuki Baleno emerged as the best-selling car in the country, with sales tallying 11,406 units. In the same month last year, the hatchback ranked 2nd with a total of 17,264 units. In November last year, the Baleno crossed 6.5 lakh sales mark in the country.

With total sales of 10,829 units, the Maruti Suzuki Alto managed to secure the second spot. Its sales went down by almost 5,997 units in the span of a year.

Holding the third and fourth spots are the Maruti Suzuki WagonR and the Maruti Suzuki Swift hatchbacks respectively.

Kia’s Seltos, which is dominating the segment ever since its launch, became the fifth top selling car of the country. The compact SUV registered total sales of 7,466 units last month and clocked over 80,000 units since its launch in August 2019.

The Hyundai Creta that recently entered into its second generation grabbed the 6th spot in the list of top 10 selling cars of the month.

Hyundai’s subcompact SUV – Venue secured the No. 7 with 6,127 units. Recently, the carmaker introduced a new, more powerful 1.5L diesel engine to the model lineup.

The Maruti Suzuki Eeco and Vitara Brezza ranked at number 8 and 9 respectively. The Indo-Japanese carmaker sold 5,966 units of the Eeco and 5,513 units of the Vitara Brezza. The latter one received a mid-life update with minor cosmetic changes and a new petrol engine early this year.

Surprisingly, the Maruti Suzuki Dzire slid down to the 10 spot with total sales of 5,476 units. The compact sedan recently received a new Dualjet petrol engine with minor changes inside and out.
