Globally renowned automaker had showcased a range of new cars and concepts at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo in February. Now, the companies are planning to launch their new cars, facelifts and special editions in the market. For all those who are planning to buy a new car next year, we bring you the top 10 most awaited new cars in India in 2018 that you should watch out for.
Besides CRV diesel and new Amaze, Honda will also launch the new generation Civic sedan in the Indian car market in 2018-19 financial year. The vehicle was unveiled at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. For the first time, the Civic sedan will get the 1.6-litre, four-cylinder, i-DTEC turbocharged diesel engine that produces 118bhp and 300Nm of torque. The gasoline model will continue to feature the 1.8-litre i-VTEC unit that is good for 139bhp and 174Nm of torque. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic unit. The new Civic sedan is based on the new chassis, which makes it lighter, stiffer and safer than the old model.

Next name on the list of top 10 most awaited new cars in India is Maruti’s popular compact MPV, Ertiga. Akin to Swift, the MPV is all set for a generation leap in the second half of 2018. In line with new models from MSI, this one will also use the HEARTECT underpinnings. As for styling, the new-generation Ertiga is expected to share cues with all-new Dzire. Changes will be made to the exterior as well as interior styling and expect Maruti to pack in new in-cabin tech such as the SmartPlay infotainment system with 7.0-inch display, new climate control, Android Auto & Apple CarPlay etc. The new Ertiga is expected to derive power from Suzuki’s indigenously developed 1.5-litre diesel engine and the 1.4-liytre petrol unit from the current model. While the SHVS technology could be dropped, there could be a new 1.0-litre Boosterjet engine as well. Transmission options are likely to include a 5-speed unit and an AMT gearbox.

Honda gave its subcompact sedan, Amaze a refresh in 2016. With new entrants claiming for a niche in the sub four-metre sedan space, the sedan has started feeling the heat and hence a generation change makes all the sense. In fact, Honda had showcased the new generation Amaze sub-4 meter sedan at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. The new model is based on all-new platform, which is claimed to be lighter, stiffer and safer. It shares design cues from the bigger Accord sedan, featuring new grille, sweptback headlamps, more proportionate rear profile and newly styled alloy wheels. It will continue to feature the same 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel and 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engines, but these engines will be tuned for higher fuel efficiency and NVH levels. For transmission duties, the sedan will get a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic (Diesel & Petrol). The sedan will also receive a 7-inch DIGIPAD infotainment system with compatibility for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It will additionally receive several new comfort and safety tech on par with rivals in the segment.
