Globally renowned automaker had showcased a range of new cars and concepts at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo in February. Now, the companies are planning to launch their new cars, facelifts and special editions in the market. 1. New Honda Civic 2018

Besides CRV diesel and new Amaze, Honda will also launch the new generation Civic sedan in the Indian car market in 2018-19 financial year. The vehicle was unveiled at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. For the first time, the Civic sedan will get the 1.6-litre, four-cylinder, i-DTEC turbocharged diesel engine that produces 118bhp and 300Nm of torque. The gasoline model will continue to feature the 1.8-litre i-VTEC unit that is good for 139bhp and 174Nm of torque. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic unit. The new Civic sedan is based on the new chassis, which makes it lighter, stiffer and safer than the old model.

Expected Launch – End of 2018

Expected Price – Rs 15 lakh to Rs 20 lakh

Engine – 1.6l Diesel & 1.8L Petrol

2. Maruti Ertiga 2018

Next name on the list of top 10 most awaited new cars in India is Maruti’s popular compact MPV, Ertiga. Akin to Swift, the MPV is all set for a generation leap in the second half of 2018. In line with new models from MSI, this one will also use the HEARTECT underpinnings. As for styling, the new-generation Ertiga shares cues with all-new Dzire. Changes has been made to the exterior as well as interior styling and Maruti has packed in new in-cabin tech such as the SmartPlay infotainment system with 7.0-inch display, new climate control, Android Auto & Apple CarPlay etc. The new Ertiga is expected to derive power from Suzuki’s indigenously developed 1.5-litre diesel engine and all-new 1.5-litre petrol unit from the current model. Transmission options are likely to include a 5-speed unit and an AMT gearbox.

3. New Maruti WagonR

India’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki is also working on the new-generation WagonR hatchback. Likely to be launched during festive season, the new model has already been spotted testing on Indian roads. Media reports also suggest that a 7-seater MPV based on the WagonR hatchback will go on sale this year. The new WagonR is based on Suzuki’s new-generation HEARTECT platform that also underpins the Swift and Dzire. The new model will have better equipped and spacious cabin. It will continue with the tall-boy design. The new WagonR will be powered by a 1.0-litre K-Series petrol engine producing 67bhp and 91Nm of torque. For transmission duties, the hatchback will get a 5-speed manual gearbox and AMT (Automated Manual Transmission).

4. New Maruti Ciaz

Maruti Ciaz is one of the several new models from the company that helped it transform its image in India. First launched in 2014, Ciaz was a break through model for the company that had been grappling in the mid-size sedan space. With Hyundai Verna getting a generation change, Ciaz has witnessed drop in sales and hence MSI is working on a mid-life facelift which should be launched sometime this year. Subtle cosmetic updates, new tech and Suzuki’s newly developed 1.5-litre M15 petrol engine will round up the overall tweaks on the facelift. It is also expected to get the company’s all-new 1.5-litre diesel engine, which will also power the Ertiga 2018.

5. New Honda CRV

Japanese carmaker will launch seven-seat version of its CR-V SUV in the Indian market. It is said that India will receive the same model that is already being retailed in Thailand. In fact, the SUV was unveiled at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. This model will be powered by an all-new 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel engine that also powers the 118bhp and 350Nm of torque. Petrol CR-V on the other hand, will retain the 2.4-litre i-VTEC unit. Transmission choices will include a 9-speed AT and a CVT with FWD and AWD options. It will additionally receive styling updates on the outside as well inside and new in-cabin tech.

Engine – 2.4-litre i-VTEC petrol and 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel

6. Mahindra U321

Next in the list of top 10 new cars launching in India in 2018 is the Mahindra’s premium MPV. Codenamed Mahindra U321, the new model is expected to be launched in the second half of 2018, possibly around festive season. Designed and developed by Mahindra’s North American Technical Centre, this new MPV will be stacked up against the segment-leader – Toyota Innova Crysta. In fact, Mahindra is aiming at an aggressive pricing tag for this MPV. In terms of pricing, it will be positioned somewhere between the Ertiga and Innova. This premium MPV will also mark the debut of 1.6-litre 4-cylinder mFalcon diesel engine that churns out 125bhp of power and 305Nm of torque. Transmission options include 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic.

 7. Mahindra S201

Upcoming Mahindra Cars at Auto Expo 2018 S201 SUV
Among several other new models, Mahindra is also working on a new subcompact SUV that is being developed under the S201 codename. The SUV will share platform with SsangYong Tivoli X100and is expected to be offered in two variants. Upon its launch, the model will rival with Tata Nexon and Maruti Vitara Brezza in the segment. In terms of styling, Mahindra S201 is expected to borrow most of the cues from Tivoli. As for mechanicals, it could get a 1.2-litre turbocharged unit and anew While the company hasn’t revealed the official name, reports in media suggest, it could be called XUV300.

Expected Launch – Mid-2018

Expected Price – Rs 9 lakh to Rs 13 lakh

Engine – 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel

8. Mahindra XUV700 (SsangYong Rexton G4)

Along with a subcompact SUV, the home-grown auto giant is also planning to launch a seven-seat SUV that will field against Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour in the segment. In international markets, this model is sold under the Rexton badge, albeit in India is could be named XUV700. In fact, the SUV was previewed with Mahindra badging and styling at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. That said, the model is being developed under the codename Y400 and is expected to be based on SsangYong’s new generation body-on frame chassis. Under the skin, the premium SUV will reportedly receive a 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine with a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed automatic gearbox.

9. New Gen Hyundai Santro

Hyundai’s first model, Santro is gearing up for its second innings in India. The model was taken off production in December 2014, albeit it will return in an all new avatar sometime in 2018. Aside from new aesthetics, the hatchback could receive new engines and will reportedly fill the void created by Hyundai i10. Bring developed under the codename AH, the hatchback could derive power from the 1.1-litre iRDE and 1.2-litre Kappa units. In line with rivals in the segment, it could get an AMT unit along with a manual gearbox.

 10. Audi Q2

Upcoming Cars in India
Audi is expected to launch its compact SUV Q2 in India this year. The SUV will be slotted a notch below Q3 in the company’s line-up. Interestingly, Q2 will be the smallest offering from Audi for the Indian market that will feature a progressive design philosophy. Packed with comfort and connectivity bits, the compact SUV could derive power from the 1.0-litre TFSI petrol and 2.0-litre TDI oil burner. Transmission duties are likely to be carried over by the 7-speed S tronic unit and a 6-speed manual gearbox.

Expected Price – Rs 25 lakh to Rs 35 lakh

Engine – 1.0-litre TFSI petrol and 2.0-litre TDI diesel
