Tata Tigor Electric Car Details Revealed

The power output of the Tata Tigor EV is much lower than its younger sibling – Tiago EV.

Tata Motors will supply 10,000 electric vehicles to State-run Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL). And the Tata Tigor EV will be among the procured electric vehicles. Prior to the procurement, the engine specifications of the vehicle have been leaked on the web.

As per the leaked ARAI document scan, the Tigor EV will source its power from a 29.8kW electric motor. It will generate a maximum power of 29.8kW (40bhp), which is equivalent to the Mahindra eVerito’s power output (i.e. 41bhp).

Compared to its younger sibling – Tiago Electic, the power output of the Tigor EV is very low. The former, which is currently in its concept phase, makes a top power of 85kW (113.94bhp). This battery system is capable to mark 0-100kmph in 11 seconds, and offer a top speed of 135kmph.

The Tata Tigor EV weighs 1,516 kg that makes it lighter than other cars. The overall length, width and height of the vehicle measure 3,992mm, 1,677mm and 1,537mm respectively. The car sits on a 2,450mm of wheelbase. Design of the electric Tigor will be exactly similar to the regular model. In fact, the features will also be carried over from the standard Tigor.

Tata Motors will deliver the EVs in two batches with 500 units in the first phase this month and the remaining 9,500 units in the second phase. The company quoted the lowest price of Rs 10.16 (exclusive of GST) in the competitive bidding. Tata’s Sanand-based plant in Gujarat will serve as production hub for the Tigor EV.
