Three Upcoming New 6-Seater SUVs To Rival MG Hector Plus

MG Motors has recently launched the Hector Plus 6-seater SUV in the country. The company has pitched the new model against the Toyota Innova Crysta, which is also India’s best-selling utility vehicle. This segment will also see the arrival of at least 3 brand new 6-seater SUVs that will challenge the new Hector Plus and here is the list –

Tata Gravitas

Tata Gravitas 6-seater Specs

Unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo, the Tata Gravitas will be a direct rival to the MG Hector Plus. It is based on the OMEGA ARC platform, which also underpins the Harrier SUV. The new model will be offered in 6- and 7-seat versions. In terms of proposition, the Gravitas is 4,661mm long, 1,894mm wide and 1,786mm height and has a wheelbase of 2,741mm. The SUV will have a ground clearance of 200mm.

The Tata Gravitas will be powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine that also powers the Harrier. This engine churns out a maximum power output of 170bhp and 350Nm of torque. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.

New Mahindra XUV500

Upcoming Cars Under 20 Lakhs

The next-gen Mahindra XUV500 has been spotted testing multiple times on the Indian roads. The new model will be based on the new monocoque front-wheel-drive platform, which will also underpin the upcoming Ford C-SUV. It will share the front design with the Mahindra Funster concept, which was unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo. This SUV will also receive flush-fitting door handles instead of its distinctive ‘cheetah claw’ handles.

The new XUV500 will come with 2 engine options – a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol and a 2.2-litre diesel. While the former is good for 190bhp and 380Nm of torque, the oil burner is likely to produce around 180bhp. Both manual and automatic versions will be on offer.

Hyundai Alcazar

The Korean automaker has started testing the 7-seater version of the new-gen Creta SUV. The new model will come with subtle design changes to accommodate third row of seats. Moreover, it will have more flatter profile than the round-ish design of the 5-seater model. It is expected to be launched in the country in 2021. Rumoured to be called the Hyundai Alcazar, the 6-seater SUV is likely to be priced between Rs 13 lakh and Rs 20 lakh. The Hyundai Alcazar is likely to share the engine specifications with the existing Creta, which includes a 1.5L naturally-aspirated petrol, a 1.5L turbo-diesel and a 1.4L turbocharged petrol. Both manual and automatic versions are likely to be on offer.
