Here is a list of top globally popular SUVs that are on test on the Indian roads, but unlikely to go on sale.

Honda HR-V

Since 2013, Honda is planning to launch its globally popular HR-V SUV in the Indian market. The SUV has been spotted multiple times on Indian roads, and it was reported that the facelifted model will arrive in our market in 2019 or early 2020. However, recent media reports claim that the Honda HR-V India launch has been cancelled due to high pricing.

Toyota C-HR

Toyota’s popular crossover, the C-HR has been spotted multiple times on the Indian roads. It is expected that Toyota could launch this model under the Government’s decision of allowing automakers to import up to 2,500 cars without homologation process. However, Toyota is yet to make an official announcement on the same.

Suzuki Vitara

Maruti Suzuki is planning to enter into the premium SUV segment, which is currently dominated by the Hyundai Creta. The company is testing the global Suzuki Vitara in India; however, this model is not going to arrive in our market. Instead, Maruti Suzuki is readying an all-new premium SUV that is likely to preview the next-gen Vitara.

DS7 Crossback

Groupe PSA has officially announced to enter the Indian market. The Citroen C5 Aircross will be the first model to be launched in our market in 2020. What’s more interesting is that the French brand is testing thye DS7 Crossback in India. For people not in the know, the DS7 Crossback is based on the EMP2 platform that also underpins the C5 Aircross.

MG Baojun 510

After launching the Hector SUV, MG Motor is now planning to launch an all-new 5-seater premium SUV to challenge the Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster and the Kia Seltos. MG is currently testing the Baojun 510 SUV, which is currently on sale in Chinese market. It was speculated that MG motors will launch the Baojun 510 SUV with India-specific changes and a new name. The company could also use the Baojun RS-3 for the India-specific model.
