Tesla To Enter India By the End of 2019, Confirms Elon Musk
Tesla will have “partial presence in India, Africa & South America end of next year, with broader expansion in 2020”.
Tesla Motors Boss Elon Musk has revealed the company’s expansion plans across the global. Replying to a tweet, the tech entrepreneur said that Tesla will have “partial presence in India, Africa & South America end of next year, with broader expansion in 2020”. The American carmaker currently has its production facility in China that serves demand for the Asia-Pacific region. The company aims to produce 5,000 Model 3 sedan units per day at its Nevada-based Gigafactory and deliver the pre-order models to customers. Tesla had announced that it will enter India by the summer of 2017. In fact, the carmaker has taken pre-bookings for the Tesla Model 3 electric sedan. However, the company postponed its plan due to strict government regulations. Talking about the matter, Elon Musk had said that Tesla couldn’t sell vehicles in India as they would need 30% of parts sourced locally, which isn’t feasible in the market.
Just so you know, the Tesla Model 3 sedan is the company’s most affordable vehicle. The electric sedan is packed with a 60kw lithium-ion battery pack with a range of 215kms in a single charge. It’s claimed to accelerate 0 to 60mph in 6 seconds. The Model 3 comes with two drivetrain options – RWD and AWD.
