Elon Musk, the co-founder and CEO at Tesla, has confirmed that the buyers will be able to wrap Cybertruck in their favourite colours and patterns. Though, there is no clarity the colour and pattern options will come from Tesla factories. Tesla Cybertruck electric pickup was first unveiled in November last year. The unveiled model was unpainted prototype with visible grey metal stainless steel.
Interestingly, the Cybertruck has ultra-hard 30X cold-rolled stainless steel in its body structure that will also be used for the SpaceX’s upcoming Starship spaceship. Its robust exterior shell is claimed to provide “ultimate durability and passenger protection”. Its windows are composed of the impenetrable ‘Tesla Armor Glass’.
The new electric pickup truck from Tesla will be made available with three powertrains – Single Motor RWD (Rear-Wheel Drive), Dual Motor AWD (All-Wheel Drive) and Tri Motor AWD. The range-topping Tri Motor all-wheel-drive model offers a claimed range of over 800km on a full charge. It can do 0 to 60mph in less than 2.9 seconds. While the single motor variant promises a range of over 400km, the dual motor version delivers over 480km. The former can achieve 96kmph in under 6.5 seconds. The Tesla Cybertruck comes with a payload capacity of up to 3,500 pounds (around 1587kg) and offers a towing capacity of over 14,000 pounds (around 6350kgs).
The overall length of the electric pickup truck stands at 6.5 foot. It offers a cargo bed of 100 cubic feet that can be locked through a “Magic” tonneau cover. The Cybertruck has a seating capacity for 6 adult passengers. For performing damping duties, it has adaptive air suspension unit.
