Tata Motors will launch the much-awaited Zest compact sedan in the Indian car market on August 12. The company has recently rolled out the first batch of the sedan at Tata-Fiat plant in Ranjangaon, Maharashtra. The homegrown automaker has already started taking pre-orders for the Zest compact sedan. Customers can only book this car by paying a sum of Rs. 21,000 through debit or credit cards or other online payment methods.

The Tata Zest compact sedan will be offered in both petrol and diesel fuel options. While the petrol version of the sedan gets the 1.2-litre petrol engine producing 89bhp and 140Nm of torque, the oil burner is 1.3-litre multi-jet engine that produces 89bhp and a peak torque of 200Nm. Moreover, the Revotron engine offers multi-drive modes- Sport, Economy and City. Power is transmitted to front wheels of the car via a five-speed manual transmission gearbox. The Zest compact sedan will be the country’s first ever diesel car to feature automated manual transmission. Adding to it, this sedan will be the cheapest automatic car in its league.

Based on the thoroughly modified X1 platform, the Zest compact sedan will compete against the likes of Honda Amaze, Maruti Swift Dzire and Hyundai Xcent. The Tata Zest will be loaded with various high end features including EPAS with active return function, speed sensitive power steering developed by ZF, Harman infotainment system with 5-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, smart voice recognition and many more.
