Tata Motors is gearing up to launch its most awaited Zest compact sedan in the country. The company is trying hard to revive its lost market share and is betting big on Zest and Bolt.   1. Based on the thoroughly modified X1 platform, the Zest sedan measures 3995mm in length, 1695mm in width and 1570mm in height. It has a large wheelbase of 2470mm and a ground clearance of 165mm which offers an aggressive stance to it.
  2. Tata Zest will be the country’s first ever diesel car to get the automated manual transmission gearbox. The AMT gearbox costs less than the conventional auto gearbox, so it is likely to the most affordable diesel automatic car in India as well. This F-Tronic transmission provides hassle free driving as it does not require a clutch pedal. The driver can alter the gears either fully automatically or sequentially.
  3. The compact sedan will come in both petrol and diesel guise. The petrol version is powered by the Revotron, 1.2-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that is capable of developing a top power output of 85PS and 140Nm of torque. The oil burner gets the 1.3-litre Quadrajet engine producing 90PS and 200Nm of top torque.
  4. The 1.2L Turbocharged engine offers three driving modes- City, Eco and Sports which can be selected via a button. While run on Eco model, the vehicle offers high fuel efficiency, and on sports mode it returns a high performance.
  5. The Tata Zest compact sedan is equipped with several advanced features such as EPAS with active return function and speed sensitive power steering developed by ZF.
  6. It has an advanced infotainment system including Harman infotainment system with MapmyIndia navigation, 5-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, smart voice recognition, advanced smartphone integration and others.
  7. The vehicle gets a more carved out front bonnet featuring a new grille with extra chrome strip, flanked by projector headlamps. It gets electrically adjustable outside rear view mirrors with turn indicators, Fog lamps with integrated daytime running lamps, 15-inch alloys, LED tail lamps and rear bumper integrated fog lamps.
  8. The Tata Zest will go on sale in August while the hatchback model will be launched in September. It is likely to be priced in the range of Rs. 5-7.5 lakh.
