Tata to Unveil Production-Ready Altroz Hatchback in December

Tata Altroz Red

Tata Motors is readying a range of new cars, which are scheduled to be launched in 2020. The company had unveiled the close-to-production Altroz premium hatchback at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. It was planned to be launched in August 2019, but Tata decided to introduce the hatchback with BS6 compliant engines. The launch has been pushed to early 2020, most probably around Auto Expo in February. A new media report claims that the premium hatchback in production form will debut in the first week of December 2019.

Tata Altroz was first previewed as the 45X concept at the 2018 Auto Expo. The production ready model will look similar to that of the pre-production car showcased in Geneva earlier this year. Featuring Tata’s new Impact 2.0 design language, the Tata Altroz will be the first model to be based on the company’s new ALFA (Agile, Light, Flexible and Advanced) platform. The upcoming H2X micro SUV will also be based on the same modular architecture.

Tata Altroz Dashboard Leaked

The Tata Altroz comes with all-black interior with central console dominated by a free-standing 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system. There are body-coloured surrounds for AC vents, complementing the all-black dashboard. It also comes with segment first part-digital instrument console. It is reported that the hatchback will also come with ambient lighting and Google-powered voice-activated functions.

The Tata Altroz is the widest car in its category, offering enough space to accommodate 3 adults in the rear. However, the wheelbase is shortest in the category. The hatchback offers a boot space of 341-litres.

Tata Altroz will be offered in 3 engine options – a 85bhp, 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol, a 102bhp, 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol and a 90bhp, 1.5-litre turbo-diesel. Power will be transmitted to the front wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox. The hatchback could also receive an automatic gearbox option on a later date.
