Tata Tiago, Tigor & Nexon To Get Generation Change

New Tata Nexon

The new-generation Tata Tiago, Tigor and Nexon will be based on the company’s new Alfa platform.

Tata Motors has a handful of new models for the Indian market. While the Tata Harrier 5-seater SUV will be the next big product from the home-grown carmaker, the Tata 45X premium hatchback, a mid-size sedan and a 7-seater version of the Harrier will come in the next one or two years. While the new Tata premium hatch will take head-to-head against the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Hyundai i20, the mid-size sedan will put up against the Hyundai Verna, Honda City and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.

The Harrier’s 7-seater model will be stacked up against the Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour. Besides this, the company will also bring in the E-Vision concept based luxury sedan in the country. Tata will also give a generation change to its three popular passenger vehicles – Tiago hatchback, Tigor subcompact sedan and Nexon subcompact SUV.

For all its new products, Tata will use two platforms – Alfa (Agile Light Flexible Advanced Architecture) and Omega (Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced). While the former will include models ranging between 3.8 to 4.3 meters in length, the latter will take care of the vehicles in 4.4 to 4.8 meters segments. Interestingly, the Tata Harrier will be the first model to be based on the Omega platform and the Tata 45X hatchback will be the first one to use the Alfa architecture.

The new-generation Tata Tiago, Tigor and Nexon will be designed on the company’s new Alfa platform. Besides the new architecture, the updated models of the vehicles will see comprehensive design and feature upgrades. The carmaker might also make some mechanical changes to the cars. As of now, the details of the new Tata cars are scanty. Reports in media suggest that the new Tata models will be codenamed as X-422, X-434, X-441, X-442 and X-452. Check Out – Upcoming Tata Cars in India
