Tata Motors recently rolled out the 1,00,000th unit of the Tiago hatchback from its Sanand-based facility in Gujarat. The Pune-based carmaker has achieved this milestone in a short span of 19 months after its arrival in April last year.
In the domestic market, the company sold 93,299 units of the Tiago hatchback by the end of September 2017. If we look at the breakup, the major demand comes for the petrol variants registering a total sales of 77,086 units compared to 16,213 units of diesel counterpart.
The Tiago hatchback has turned the fortune in favour of Tata Motors. With attributes like contemporary styling, class-leading features and competent engine options, the Tiago attracted mass buyers. The hatchback gave the much needed boost to Tata in the passenger vehicle segment. During April-September 2017, the company registered a growth of 6.11% against 5.6% of last year. In fact, the hatchback crossed over 30,000 bookings within four months of its arrival. The high demand proportionally increased its waiting period up to 3-4 months. Tata Tiago AMT Review
With an aim to further boost its sales, the Pune-based carmaker introduced an AMT version of the hatchback. Priced at Rs 4.79 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), this new model is made available in a single XZA trim. In September 2017, the company also launched the Tiago Wizz limited edition loaded with several new features and sporty design bits. Available in both petrol and diesel engine, this special edition costs Rs 4.52 lakh and Rs 530 lakh respectively.
The Tiago carline is spread across five trim levels priced between Rs 3.21 lakh – Rs 5.58 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Engine setup for the vehicle includes a 1.2L petrol and 1.05L diesel churning out 85bhp and 70bhp respectively. Transmission options on offer include a 5speed manual and AMT. Mileage figure of the car stand at 23.48kmpl (for the petrol manual) and 27.28kmpl (for the diesel).
