Tata Motors has very ambitious plans for the Indian market. While the carmaker will tap the premium SUV and hatchback segments with the new Harrier and 45X respectively, it will also foray into the performance vehicle space with the Tiago JTP and Tigor JTP. Previewed at the 2018 Auto Expo, the Tata Tiago JTP is currently in its final testing phase and will soon go on sale this year. 1. More Powerful Engine
Under the hood, the Tata Tiago JTP will house the same 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine that does duty in the regular model. However, it will be tweaked for generating more power and deliver better performance. On the standard model, it offers 84bhp at 6,000rpm with 114Nm of torque at 3,500rpm. 2. Stiffer Suspension & Bigger Brakes
Besides employing a more powerful engine, the home-grown carmaker has updated the suspension and braking mechanism of the hot hatch. Compared to the standard model, the Tata Tiago JTP gets stiffer and lowered suspension setup. It will help the car absorb jerks with more ease. 3. More Aggressive Looks
Tata has made subtle design changes to the Tata Tiago JTP. The hot hatch comes with a new aero kit that includes updated front bumper, revised grille, blacked out headlamps, larger air intakes and new fog lamps. Styling bits such as contrast finished ORVMs, new 15-inch diamond cut alloys and a diffuser with a roof spoiler add more to its sporty appearance. The car will also get a new paint scheme. 4. Sporty Interior
Interior of the Tata Tiago JTP looks premium and sportier than the regular model. It gets all black interior theme with black leather upholstery with contrasting red stitches and accents. 5. India’s Most Affordable Hot Hach
The Tata Tiago JTP will be the company’s first-ever and India’s most affordable hot hatch. Price of the vehicle is estimated to fall between Rs 7 lakh – Rs 8 lakh. If launched in this price range, the Tiago JTP will be less expensive than the Volkswagen Polo GT TSI (Rs 8.80 lakh), which is currently the least expensive hot hatch in the country.
