Tata Motors is ready to bring in its third electric offering on 28th September 2022. Called the Tata Tiago EV, the electric hatchback will be the most affordable EV from the home-grown carmaker in India. While its prices will be revealed next week, it’s likely to cost around Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom). Ahead of its official arrival, the company has released a new teaser image of the vehicle revealing its two features.
The Tiago EV will be offered with cruise control and adjustable regenerative braking system. One must note that both features are not available on the Tigor EV. The hatchback’s regenerative braking system will have three levels that will help recharge batteries automatically while driving the vehicle. It converts kinetic energy, which is released from braking, into electrical power to charge the batteries. The tech also slows down the EV and enhances its driving range. The cruise control, on the other hand, improves its highway performance and handling.
Features and specifications of the upcoming Tata Tiago EV are yet to be revealed by the carmaker. Similar to the standard model, the electric version is likely to come with a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, Tata ConnectNext app, 4 speakers, electrically adjustable ORVMs with integrated turn indicators, height adjustable driver seat, voice commands, steering mounted controls, rear parking camera, dual-tone alloy wheels, front fog lamps, rear wiper washer and rear defogger. The new Tata electric car is likely to share its powertrain with the Tigor EV. The model might feature a 26kWh battery pack with a 75PS electric motor. With this setup, the electric sedan promises an ARAI-claimed range of 306km on a single charge. Though, the carmaker might also use a smaller capacity battery that will be slightly less powerful than the Tigor EV.
