Tata Motors announced prices of the new Tiago EV on 28th September and its bookings were commenced on 10th October, 2022. The electric hatchback gathered 20,000 bookings so far. Deliveries of the model will begin in January 2023. Currently, it has a waiting period of up to 4 months. In select cities, deliveries are being promised within 2 months only. The Tata Tiago EV comes in XE, XT, XZ+ and XZ+ Tech Lux trims and two battery pack options – 19.2kWh and 24kWh.
Both battery packs are IP67 rated for dust and water resistance. The electric hatchback has a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor delivering 74bhp and 114Nm with the 24kWh battery and 61bhp and 110Nm with the 19.2kWH battery. The company is offering a warranty of 8 years/1,60,000km on its battery packs and electric motor. While the smaller battery version can accelerate from 0 to 60kmph in 6.2 seconds, the latter battery model can do the same in 5.7 seconds.
The Tiago EV is available with three charging options – a 50kW DC fast charger, a 7.2kW AC fast charger and a 3.3kW home charger. The carmaker says that both its battery packs can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in 57 minutes by using a 50kW DC fast charger. The 19.2kWh and 24kWh batteries take 5 hours 5 minutes, 6 hours 20 minutes and 2 hours 35 minutes, 3 hours 35 minutes to get fully charged via the standard 3.3kW home charger and the optional 7.2kW AC fast charger respectively.
Design bits such as electric blue highlights around the headlamps and body, a closed-off grille, tri-arrow Y-shaped elements in the air dam and 14-inch hyperstyle wheel design differentiate it from its ICE-powered version. The Tata Tiago EV is being offered in Teal Blue, Pristine White, Daytona Grey, Tropical Mist and Midnight Plum colour schemes.
