Priced at Rs 5.39 lakh (ex-Delhi), the Tata Tiago AMT will rival Maruti Celerio AMT and Hyundai Grand i10 AT.

Tata Motors has finally rolled out the automatic derivative of its popular hatchback – Tiago. Available only on the XZA variant, the Tata Tiago AMT (Automatic) is being priced at Rs 5.39 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Similar to the regular XZA trim, the automatic version comes packed with a 1.2L Revotron, 3-cylinder petrol engine. Though, the change comes in the form of Easy-Shift AMT gearbox unit. This auto box comes with four gear positions – Automatic, Neutral, Reverse and Manual.

Besides this, the Tata Tiago AMT offers two drive modes – Sports and City. This makes it first car to offer Sports mode in the hatchback segment. This new automatic version comes as an option for buyers who want an affordable small car with smooth city drivability. At the heart of the Tata Tiago automatic is the same 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder VCTi Revotron petrol engine that powers the regular variants. This gasoline motor belts out a top power of 83.8bhp at 6,000rpm against 114Nm at 3,500rpm. What is the new with this engine is a new 5-speed automated manual transmission enhancing its city drivability and handling experience.

As mentioned above, the Tiago offers first-in-segment performance-oriented Sports mode. While the City mode makes it ease in city traffic. Tata Tiago AMT (Automatic) Competition

The Tiago AMT will be competing against Maruti Suzuki Celerio AMT and Hyundai Grand i10 AT in India.

Proportionally, the new automatic model is similar to the hatchback’s regular version. While the length, width and height of the hatchback measure 3,746mm, 1,647mm and 1,535mm respectively, the wheelbase stands at 2,400mm. The small car sits on a 170mm of ground clearance, which is more than sufficient to tackle Indian road conditions. It has a boot space of 240-litres, which is good enough to accommodate 3 suitcases.

As a reminder, the Tiago hatchback is being made available in five trim levels – XB, XE, XM, XT and XZ. The fully-loaded XZ variant features body colored door handles with wind mirrors, rear parking sensors, Harman infotainment system, fabric seat upholstery and driver seatbelt reminder. Other key highlights include power windows, follow-me-home lamps, speed sensing door locks, rear parcel tray, remote locking, etc.
