Tata Motors today rolled out the Dark edition of its flagship SUV – Safari. Prices of the new Tata Safari Dark Edition start from Rs 19.05 lakh and go up to Rs 22.51 lakh (all, ex-showroom Delhi). Available across XT+, XTA+, XZ+ and XZA+ trims, it’s around Rs 20,000 – Rs 72,000 more expensive than the standard model. The model has reached dealerships and open for bookings. The automaker says that its Dark range is quite popular among buyers and the new Safari Dark edition will offer “the exciting & unique proposition” to the customers. Talking about the new Safari Dark Edition, the model receives sporty black treatment inside and out. It’s painted in the signature Oberon Black colour scheme with 18-inch Blackstone alloy wheels. It has mascots on the fender and the tailgate. You can notice gloss black accents on the front grille, headlamp and window surrounds replacing the chrome treatment.

The all-black interior theme with a Blackstone Matrix insert on the dashboard gives it a sporty feel. One must note that the standard version comes with White and Beige colour options. No changes have been made to its feature list.
Based on the XT+ and XZ+ trims, the Safari Dark Edition offers an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, a 7.0-inch semi-digital instrument cluster, Tata iRA connected car tech, a wireless charger, ventilated front and middle row seats, JBL audio system, a panoramic sunroof, an air purifier and leatherette seat upholstery.
Under the hood, the new Safari Dark Edition employs the same 2.0L, 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine that does duty in the standard model. The oil burner produces a peak power of 170bhp and 350Nm of torque. It’s available with both a 6-speed manual a 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox.
