Tata Motors currently has 11 models in its Indian product portfolio right from the most affordable Tiago hatchback to Safari SUV. In October 2022, the home-grown automaker registered total sales of 76,537 units against 65,151 units in the same month last year. It accounted a YoY growth of 17%. In fact, the Tata Nexon snatched the top-spot from Maruti Suzuki Brezza and became India’s best-selling SUV in October. The company managed to retail 13,767 units of the subcompact SUV.
In the EV segment, Tata recorded a growth of 158% with total sales of 4,277 units against 1660 units in October 2021. The Tata Punch, mini SUV from the home-grown automaker, clocked total sales of 10,982 units. All three aforementioned Tata SUVs are high in-demand that results a waiting period of a few months.
At present, the Tata Nexon commands a waiting period of up to 5 months. The Tata Nexon EV Prime’s buyers have to wait for an average of 4 months for deliveries. Though, the model has a waiting period of over a year in Faridabad and 6 months in Bengaluru. The Nexon EV Max can be had after a wait of 3-4 months in most cities. The Tata Punch is being promised to be delivered within 5-6 months. It has lowest waiting period of one and a half months in Delhi and 4 months in Bengaluru.
The Tata Punch mini SUV comes in four trims, powered by a 1.2L, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine making 86bhp and 113Nm. It can be had with either a 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox. The Nexon compact SUV is available with the 110bhp, 1.5L diesel and 110bhp, 1.2L petrol engine options. Powertain setup of the Tata Nexon EV Max includes a 40.5kWh battery pack promising a claimed range of 437km on a single charge.
