The long wait for the 2022 Tata Nexon EV has finally come to an end, as the automaker launched the electric SUV in India today. Called the Tata Nexon EV Max, the model is essentially the long-range and more powerful version of the standard model. It comes in two variants, XZ+ and XZ+ LUX – which are priced from Rs 17.74 lakh to Rs 19.24 lakh respectively. Compared to the standard range Nexon EV that costs between Rs 14.54 lakh – Rs 17.15 lakh, the new model is around Rs 3.20 lakh more expensive. One must note that all aforementioned prices are ex-showroom.
The Nexon EV Max has also marked debut of Tata’s high voltage state-of-the-art Ziptron technology. It comes in three exterior colours – Intensi-Teal (exclusive to the Nexon EV MAX), Daytona Grey and Pristine White. The dual tone body colour is standard across the model lineup. Tata Nexon EV Max comes the IP67 rated battery and motor pack along with a warranty of 8 years or 160,000 km.

Tata Nexon EV Max features a 40.5kWh battery pack under the floorpan that’s 33% higher than the standard model. The lithium-ion battery powers an electric motor mounted on the front axle. The setup returns a claimed power of 143bhp and 250Nm, thus making it 14bhp more powerful and 5Nm torqueier than the standard Nexon EV. The torque will be available at push of the pedal. Despite accommodating a bigger battery pack, the Nexon EV Max continue to offer the boot space of 350-litres. The automaker says that the Tata Nexon EV Max range stands at 437km on a single charge (under standard testing conditions). It’s claimed to do return journey from Mumbai to Pune, Bengaluru to Mysore, Chennai to Pondi, Delhi to Kurshetra, Ranchi to Dhanbad and Gandhinagar to Vadodara. In the rear world conditions, it will deliver range of around 300km.
Tata is offering two charging options with the electric SUV – the standard 3.3kWh and 7.2kWh AC fast charger. The latter one can be installed at home or at workplace. The Nexon EV Max’s battery pack can be charged 0 to 80% in just 56 mins from any 50 kW DC fast charger, in 15-16 hours via a 3.3kWh charger and 5-6 hours via 7.2kWh AC fast charger.
Besides this, the new Tata Nexon EV Max comes with the selectable regeneration braking system enhancing its efficiency. Features such as also comes with the upgraded ZConnect 2.0 connected car tech, ventilated seats, all new Makarana beige interior, leatherette seats with ventilation for front passengers, wireless smartphone charging, auto dimming IRVM, an air purifier, cruise control, a park mode, electronic stability program (ESP) with iVBAC, hill hold and descent control, electronic parking brake with auto vehicle hold and all disc brake.
