On coming 19th, Tata Motors will unveil its first electric SUV – the Tata Nexon EV. Ahead of its official debut, the powertrain, dimensions and feature details of the vehicle have emerged on the web. The electric iteration of the Nexon will source its power from Tata’s Ziptron electric engine mounted under the floor.

The new electric SUV from Tata has a 28.8kWh battery pack transmitting power to a motor that’s good for 95kW and 254Nm. The combined power output will stand around 129bhp. The Tata Nexon EV will promise an electric range of 300km (based on the modified Indian driving cycle). Its battery can be charged up to 80% via a DC fast charger.

With a standard AC charger, one can charge it 100% in 8 to 9 hours. Tata will offer a standard warranty of 8 year/1,60,000km. It also will come with a hill assist function and an energy regeneration feature. At the rear axle, the Nexon EV will feature a semi-independent suspension with torsion beam setup.

We have reported earlier that the Tata Nexon EV will be based on the facelift version of the vehicle that’s due for early next year. It’s overall length, width and height will stand at 3995mm, 1811mm and 1607mm respectively. The electric SUV will sit on a 2498mm long wheelbase. Though, the electric SUV will be slightly closer the ground. It will have a ground clearance of 209mm, which is around 6mm less than the regular model.

The Tata Nexon EV is likely to be offered in two varaints. Some of design highlights will include automatic full-LED headlamps with LED DRLs, rain sensing wipers and power folding wing mirrors. The top-end trim of the electric SUV might be offered with Tata’s ConnectNext connectivity suite with voice command and several app-based features. The list will also include an automatic climate control, a wearable key, push-button start with a smart key and more.
