Tata Motors has recently unveiled the Nexon electric vehicle, which is scheduled to be launched in the next 1-2 months. It will make public debut at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo. Here are 5 things you need to know about the upcoming Tata Nexon Electric –

Specifications

The Nexon EV will mark the debut of brand’s new Ziptron powertrain technology. It is fitted with a 28.8kWh battery pack that powers a single electric motor. This electric motor produces 130PS of power and 254Nm of torque. The battery pack is placed under the floor, which will help in reducing the body roll

Range and Charging Time

The Tata Nexon EV is claimed to deliver a range of over 300km, which is significantly higher than the Tata Tigor EV. The SUV comes with a fast charging option, which juice up the battery to 80% in just 1 hour with the help of a DC fast charger. With standard AC charger, the Nexon EV takes around 8-9 hours for fully charging the battery to 100%.

Reduced Ground Clearance

In terms of proportions, the Tata Nexon EV is 3,995mm in length, 1,811mm in width and 1,607mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,498mm. However, the ground clearance of the SUV has been reduced by 6mm to 209mm. The standard variant has a ground clearance of 215mm.

The Nexon EV also previews the facelifted Nexon, which is expected to be launched in the first half of 2020. The EV comes with some design changes like new sleeker headlamps, new bumper and revised grille. The SUV rides on the newly styled machined alloy wheels, while the re-designed floating roof gives it a fresh look. At the back, the SUV gets new LED graphics for the taillamps.

Key Features and Expected Price

The Nexon EV comes equipped with decent comfort and convenience features like a fully digital instrument console, a flat bottom steering, rotary knob for gearbox, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment with modern connectivity features, climate control, etc. Dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors and camera, speed alert, seat belt reminder, etc comes as standard.

The Nexon EV is expected to be priced around Rs 14-15 lakh, which will make it the most affordable electric SUV in India.
