The company will continue to provide the aftermarket service support for both the vehicles.

Tata Motors has finally pulled the plug on the Indica eV2 hatchback and Indigo eCS compact sedan, and both the cars have been discontinued from the Indian market. The reason behind this decision is said to be the poor sales of the cars.

A company executive has confirmed to ETAuto about the development and said that the company has stopped the production of the Indigo compact sedan and the Indica hatchback. However, the aftermarket service support for both the vehicles will continue to be provided by the carmaker. Currently, dealers are in the process of clearing the last stocks of the cars. Check Out – Upcoming Tata Cars in India

The sales and production data released by the SIAM (Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers) further clarifies the news. In April 2018, the home-grown carmaker managed to sell a total of 187,321 units as opposed to 153,151 units in the same month last year. It accounts a sales growth of 22 percent. Read – New Tata Sedan To Challenge Honda City

Tata Motors spokesperson said, “With the changing market dynamics and the evolution of Tata Motors design language towards impactful design, we have decided to phase out the Indica and the Indigo eCS, a common phenomenon in a product lifecycle. We will continue to serve our extended family of Indica and Indigo customers by providing them the necessary service support.”

Talking about Tata’s future plan, the home-grown carmaker will launch the much-awaited H5X compact SUV sometime next year. According to a recent report, the production-ready version of the 5-seater SUV will be unveiled in November, 2018. Besides this, the company is working on a couple of new products including the 45X premium hatchback and H7X 7-seater SUV.
