Tata Hornbill Micro SUV’s Official Debut In March – Report

Tata Hornbill Micro SUV Launch

Tata Hornbill concept is reported to debut at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show.

It’s no secret that Tata Motors is working on a mini SUV (codenamed Tata Hornbill) that will be stacked up against the Mahindra KUV100 and the production-ready Maruti Suzuki Future S. According a fresh media report, the Tata Hornbill micro SUV will make its global debut in its concept form at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show.

The 89th edition of the grand automobile will be held from 7th to 17th March in Geneva. The production version of the Tata Hornbill is likely to debut at the 2020 Auto Expo, followed by its India launch. Also See – New-Gen Tata Safari Rendered

The report further suggests that the Tata Hornbill will share its platform with the Tata 45X concept based hatchback. The micro SUV will be the brand’s second model to underpin its new Alpha modular architecture. Though, the Hornbill will have 50mm shorter wheelbase than the premium hatchback. Similar to the Harrier and 45X, it will feature the second-generation Impact Design 2.0 styling language.

Compared to the Nexon, the Tata Hornbill will feature a more upright stance. Some of its styling highlights will include Tata’s signature ‘Humanity Line’ grille, a floating roof design, flared wheel arches and large wheels. Read – New-Gen Tata Sumo With Modern Tech Is A Possibility

As far as engine is concerned, the Tata Hornbill is reported to be offered with a 1.2L, three-cylinder Revotron petrol engine only. Since the prices of the diesel powertrains will be drastically increased after implementation of the BS6 emission norms, the carmaker might drop its plan of the diesel engine for the micro SUV.
