Tata HBX will be the next big launch from the home-grown carmaker in the country. The mini SUV is reported to arrive in the month of May to take on Maruti Suzuki S-Presso and Mahindra KUV100. If reports are to be believed, the production-ready HBX will be christened as ‘Tata Timero’. A latest set of its spy pictures reveal some of its interesting feature details. The micro SUV has a three-spoke, flat bottom steering wheel with mounted audio and cruise controls. Its digital analogue instrument console looks similar to the Altroz premium hatchback.
The upcoming Tata small SUV has a free-floating touchscreen infotainment system that’s likely to support both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It also has automatic climate control, A-pillar mounted tweeters, piano black inserts behind the gear lever, rear power windows, a parcel tray, piano black finish door handles, non-adjustable headrests for the rear seat passengers and rectangular AC vents with piano black surroundings. While the lower trims will get black fabric upholstery, the higher variants might come with leather seats.
Design of the Tata Timero will be more or less similar to its concept. The spy pictures reveal that the production model will share some of its styling elements with Harrier, especially at the front end. The mini SUV carries ‘Humanity Line’ front grille, split halogen headlamps with LED DRLs, bumper integrated (on the lower side) air dam, dual-tone bumper and radiator grille. The plastic cladding around the wheel arches, blacked out B-pillar, C-pillar mounted rear door handles and shoulder creases enhance its side profile. At the back, the upcoming Tata small SUV will have a raked windshield, high mounted stop lamp, LED taillamps, bumper with integrated reflectors and rear washer and wiper.
The Tata HBX (Timero) underpins’ Alfa platform that’s already used in the Altroz. The mini SUV is likely to come with the 86bhp, 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol engine along with manual and automatic gearbox options. The carmaker will also introduce its electric iteration at a later stage.
