Tata HBX Micro SUV in Production Avatar Looks Similar to the Concept

The exciting new Tata HBX micro SUV concept was unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo. The company claimed that the model was 97% production ready. A new set of spy images confirm that the production model of the small SUV retains almost everything, except for the minimal changes.

The HBX concept based micro SUV will be based on the Tata’s IMPACT 2.0 design language, which we have already seen on the Harrier and the Altroz. Design of the front bumper and grille has been tweaked, and now looks more conventional. The concept features the big silver faux bash plate on the bumper and prominent circular fog lights mounted low on the bumper. Indicators in the spotted model are now placed on the ORVMs.

At the back, the production-model gets raked windscreen, a small roof-mounted spoiler, Concept-like tailgate and compact tail-lights. The tail-lights gets LED elements in a tri-arrow pattern. The concept was equipped with a roof-mounted carrier with a spare wheel and jerry cans and off-road tyres. The production Tata HBX will carry the conventional tyres and standard 15-inch wheels.

Interior Changes

The Tata HBX spy images confirm that the interior also remains the same. The concept had the gold highlights, which is missing in the production model. It gets the same flat-bottom steering wheel, which we have already seen in the Tata Altroz. Similar to the Altroz, the production-spec HBX doors open 90 degrees for easy ingress and egress.

The spy shots also confirm that the Tata HBX gets a part-digital, 7.0-inch instrument console, multi-functional steering wheel, automatic climate control, and a 7.0-inch free-standing infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The Tata HBX will be offered with a single petrol engine option. It will be powered by a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder Revotron petrol engine that also powers the Tiago and the Altroz. This engine is capable of producing 85bhp of power and 110Nm of torque. The company has already discontinued its 1.05-litre diesel engine.
