Tata Harrier

Tata Harrier will be stacked up against the Jeep Compass and the Hyundai Tucson.

We informed you earlier that Tata Motors will launch the long-awaited Tata Harrier SUV in January 2019. If latest media report is to be believed, the new Harrier will be the lead car at the upcoming Mumbai Marathon. The event is scheduled to be held on January 20, 2019. This suggests that Tata might take the event as an opportunity to unveil the production-ready Harrier SUV.

Tata Harrier will be a 5-seater premium SUV that will be stacked up against the Jeep Compass and the Hyundai Tucson. The concept version of the SUV first broke cover in the H5X concept avatar at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. Recently, the home-grown carmaker has confirmed that it will roll out the production-spec 45X hatchback in mid 2019.

Interestingly, the new 5-seater SUV will be Tata’s first production car to feature its new-generation IMPACT Design 2.0 design philosophy. It will be based on the company’s all-new OMEGA (Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced) monocoque platform that has been co-developed by Tata and Jaguar Land Rover (JLR). The new architecture has been derived from the Land Rover D8 platform, which is also used in the Range Rover Evoque. Read: Tata EVision Sedan – 5 Interesting Facts

Engine setup of the Tata Harrier will include both petrol and diesel motors. Rumor has it that the 2.0-litre diesel powertrain could be borrowed from the Jeep Compass. It is tuned to deliver two power outputs – 148bhp with 350Nm and 170bhp with 350Nm. The Harrier is likely to get less powerful version with both manual and automatic gearboxes. Check Out – Upcoming Tata Cars in India
