Tata Motors had showcased the H5X premium SUV concept at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. The production-ready model will be called the Harrier. Its design is based on Tata’s IMPACT 2.0 design philosophy, which will be offered on the upcoming 45X premium hatchback. 1. What are the features and specifications of Tata Harrier?

Ans – The Harrier premium SUV is powered by Fiat sourced 2.0-litre MultiJet turbo-diesel engine that also powers the Jeep Compass. While powering the Compass this engine produces 148bhp and 350Nm of torque, the Harrier model will have de-tuned engine that offers 148bhp of power and 350Nm of torque.

The Harrier will be Tata’s most feature loaded car in the country. It will be equipped with several high-end features including segment leading HMI (Human Machine Interface) displays with excellent user interface. It comes with two-layered dashboard with large touchscreen integrated into the centre console. 2. What is the launch date of new Tata Harrier SUV?

Ans – Tata Motors hasn’t revealed the exact launch date of the SUV. However, the company has confirmed that the premium SUV will go on sale in the first quarter of 2019. A possible launch in January 2019 can’t be ignored.

3. Should I wait for Tata Harrier or go for Hyundai Creta Diesel?

Ans – Tata Motors will initially launch the diesel version of the Harrier SUV in the country in early 2019. The company hasn’t confirmed about the petrol powered model. However, growing demand for petrol engines could prompt Tata to bring a petrol-powered Harrier.

Ans – The new Harrier will be equipped with several high-end safety and security features. Dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist, ESP and ISOFIX could be offered as standard. The top-spec model will have all-wheel-drive system, which suggests that the SUV could get terrain response management system, hill-launch assist, traction control and others. Ans – The concept model showcased at the Auto Expo 2018 was over 4.5 meter in length. Expect production model to have similar dimensions; however, subtle changes could marginally alter the length of the SUV.
