Tata Harrier-Sized Electric SUV Gets Greenlit For Production – Report

Tata Motors seems to be bullish on its electric vehicle plan that includes 10 new BEVs (battery electric vehicles) slated to arrive by 2025. The company recently unveiled the Tata Currv electric mid-size SUV coupe concept that marked debut of Tata’s Generation 2 EV architecture and new digital design language. It will be first introduced as a pure electric car, followed by its petrol and diesel models. Now, the home-grown automaker is ready to unveil its yet another EV concept.

The upcoming Tata electric car concept is reported to be a Safari-sized SUV based on the brand’s new electric skateboard platform – Born Electric. Speculations are on rife that it could be christened as Tata Sliq. Just so you know, the carmaker recently trademarked the Sliq nameplate in the country. Official name and design details of the concept will be revealed tomorrow.

Besides this, Tata Motors is reported to be working on an all-new Harrier-sized electric SUV. While the Harrier’ existing Omega Arc platform is difficult to electrify, the company will use its new skateboard architecture for its upcoming electric models. In fact, the automaker has approved the Tata Harrier-sized electric SUV for production. The model, which is internally codenamed ‘Tata Eturna’, is likely to hit roads in early 2025. Though, powertrain and other details of the new Tata Electric car are not available to us.

Talking about Tata’s upcoming electric cars, the company has planned three EVs for this year. The plan outlines the updated Tata Nexon EV, Tigor EV and Altroz EV. The 2022 Tata Nexon EV will come with a larger 40kWh battery pack offering a range over 400km (estimated) on a full charge. It will promise power close to 136PS, which is 7PS higher than the existing model. Subtle changes will also be made to its exterior and interior. The new Tata Tiago EV and Altroz EV will also be offered with Tata’s updated Ziptron electric powertrain.
